ARISC Travel Grants

The ARISC Conference Travel Grant promotes cooperation and exchange among South Caucasus and U.S. researchers and institutions by providing support to Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Georgian scholars and PhD students for presenting research at scholarly conferences or workshops in the U.S. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. It is recommended to submit at least 4 months in advance of the conference or workshop. Complete applications must be submitted to ARISC no later than three (3) months prior to the event date. This funding opportunity is open to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, who live in the South Caucasus, and are either PhD students or have completed their PhD. Proposals from applicants affiliated with colleges, universities, or research institutions in the South Caucasus (e.g. students, faculty, researchers) are especially encouraged, but all strong proposals will be given full consideration. The ARISC Travel Grant provides travel costs up to $3,000 USD.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies is pleased to award fellowships to support significant research and writing about the Holocaust. Fellowships are designed for scholars at all levels of career, starting with PhD candidates (ABD). A principal focus of the overall fellowship program is to ensure the development of a new generation of scholars, and those early in their careers are especially encouraged to apply.

Application Materials and Guidelines

Awards are granted on a competitive basis. Project proposals should specify the resources available at the Museum to which a scholar needs access for their research. Applicants may attach an addendum listing these resources (in addition to the 1,000 word project proposal) or otherwise may reference important resources in the body of their project proposal. 

Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $5,000, which may be subject to taxes, as well as a one-time travel stipend to support roundtrip, economy transportation to Washington, DC from their home institution.

Applications must be submitted in English via our online application and consist of the following:

  • An online application form
  • A project proposal (in PDF format, not to exceed 1,000 words)
  • A curriculum vitae summary (in PDF format, not to exceed four single-spaced pages)

Russian Studies at Durham features regularly among the leading Russian departments in the UK league tables and has been ranked most recently 3rd in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. There are currently five members of academic staff in Russian Studies at Durham actively engaged in research and publication in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, part of an overall complement of over fifty research active staff. Job Opening: Research assistant fluent in Russian for a historical research project 

I am looking for a research assistant, fluent in Russian, preferably with background in graduate-level historical research, and with an access to a large academic library. The job opening is for an ISF (Israeli Science Foundation) book project, involving modern Russian, Japanese and Chinese history. Familiarity with early twentieth century military and/or political Russian history is an advantage. The research assistant will have to evaluate primary and secondary sources in Russian for the principal investigator. The project is essentially for three years, but the job can be either short or long term, according to convenience.

This cluster is now accepting applications to be a part of a cohort of students working on these topics, and have access to reading groups and graduate courses focusing on this, as well as IU's other resources.
